Alex Kreilein is a Senior Program Manager at Microsoft Azure where he leads efforts on security, reliability, and performance engineering for mission-critical environments. Formerly he was the Chief Information Security Officer at RapidDeploy where he managed all aspects of security, privacy, and compliance for the company and its cloud-native and IoT workloads. Kreilein was a Managing Partner at Darkfield, which is an early-stage venture fund for cybersecurity startups. He co-founded and was the Chief Technology Officer of SecureSet, which is the nation’s first cybersecurity bootcamp.
Separately, Kreilein served as a lead cybersecurity strategist at the Department of Homeland Security as Guest Researcher for the National Institute of Standards & Technology where he focused on cybersecurity in public safety and mission critical communication and information systems. Kreilein has been a Cybersecurity Fellow with the New America Foundation, a presenter at DEF CON, and a technical advisor to companies taking on hard problems in technology and security. He holds a MS from CU Boulder’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, a MA from the US Naval War College, and a BA from Fordham University.
